I was originally assuming they are writing things that are true and would point people towards goodness (and truth). Under that assumption, and assuming they are "built" in the relevant ways to have a blog (can write for layish audiences, is compatible with their vocation, etc.), then probably yes?
But now that you ask that, I realize I don't think most professors would be pointing people towards truth and goodness if they did have a substack, so it kind of depends. Maybe I should say most people should paywall their posts after all 😆. Although i can hope even disagreement helps people get to the truth eventually.

Besides my theoretical issue, I'd say it's likely morally permissible but, well, worse, frowned upon, annoying, or something along these lines. I appreciate that your paywalls are rare. I on principle refuse to pay for any substack haha
The argument about paywalls on feminism articles is weird. There's millions of articles on feminism. Millions of feminist writers. Women who are struggling financially get exposed to all the feminist thought they want from other women in their lives, off YouTube, Instagram books in the library ands podcasts. We all have a unique perspective some feminists cannot just express what's alive in them in a way that stirs other people, that carries them along in the movement but there's millions of such women. We all find what we're looking for on the internet.
Feminism doesn't pay very well. Most likely women really churning out articles on feminism might be broke is they didn't charge for their work.
A few years ago, a friend said he didn't like Oprah because she didn't use her billions to make things better. I laughed then because Oprah is the only billionaire in the world and she has Green Lantern powers. Come to think of it even Green Lantern and Superman can't solve the worlds problems.
Anyway we talked about my friend's opinion he can be odd sometimes.
